Call to support a research project on the “brain drain”

The ”la Caixa” Social Observatory has announced a call to support a social research project that will help to analyse the net effect of a “brain drain” on scientific activity in the country of origin by using quantitative techniques.

We are offering a grant of 15,000 euros for a single project, in addition to the costs of an online survey.


 

WE ARE SEEKING:

  • A social research project that analyses the effects of the research diaspora on the scientific ecosystem of Spain as a country of origin.

 

WE ARE OFFERING:

  • The amount of 15,000 euros for the researcher or research team to conduct the study.

  • The costs of a survey of scholarship holders: The ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation will commission an online survey to collect the information that the research proposal considers relevant for the purpose of addressing the questions raised.

 

WE ARE ASKING FOR:

  • The beneficiary undertakes to use the grant obtained to conduct the study that is the object of the selected proposal, as well as submit an original, unpublished article containing the results of this study to the ”la Caixa” Social Observatory.

  • The delivery period for the article is 6 months, starting from the notification that the proposal has been selected.

  • The university or research centre receiving the grant must sign an agreement with the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation.

     

WHO CAN APPLY:

  • The call is open to all individual researchers or research teams of any nationality conducting their activity in universities, research centres or private non-profit organisations dedicated mainly to research.

     

DEADLINE:

  • Presentation deadline: Proposals can be presented up until 2:00 p.m. (Central European Time) on 10 December 2019.

  • The proposals must be sent to the email of the ”la Caixa” Social Observatory”: 
     observatoriosocial@fundacionlacaixa.org

  • Notification of the selected proposal will be made by means of the contact email of the main researcher that was provided during the application process. Information on the resolution of the call will be published on the website of the ”la Caixa” Social Observatory. Both announcements will be made no later than 27 January 2020.
